ACTIVITY
A French food industry group manufacturing products such as juices and soups, fresh dairy products (milk, cream, butter, yogurts, dairy-based desserts), frozen products, baby products (powdered milk), and nutritional products.
The project at a glance
For its new plant, designed according to the industry 4.0 model, the group wanted to optimize data-sharing between its ERP and MES systems—in other words, between its operations and production management systems. The group was specifically looking for an automated tool that could manage flows of data—from different sources and of different types—reliably and at scale.
Ultimately, the group opted for Talend Cloud by Qlik on account of its ease of use, its integration with cloud services, and the fact that data exchanges could be developed quickly, as well as its compliance with advanced security standards.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The project represents the first step in a broader road map for setting up data exchange flows between the ERP and MES systems at scale.
WORK PERFORMED
Hardis Group’s experts worked closely with the group’s IT department on a number of work streams.
Creation of the application architecture for Talend Cloud by Qlik
- Drafted the technical architecture document (TAD) outlining how the project would be implemented from a technical perspective.
- Configured and deployed the Data Integration component for managing data processing.
- Installed the Talend Cloud by Qlik software platform after scoping business requirements.
Design and implementation of the application
- Developed 19 automated data exchange flows between the ERP and MES systems.
- Configured the flows in B2MML format to support interoperability between the MES and ERP systems.
- Completed business and technical integration with the ERP and MES systems, for coordination of operational processes and the IT system.
Staff training
- Trained staff to use the Talend by Qlik data management platform.
Application maintenance
- Hardis Group handles maintenance, updates, and bug fixes for the platform.
